which include dengue and zika, have significant economic and healthcare
impacts in Southeast Asia. The speaker will describe current research
to investigate the risk of mosquito borne diseases on expatriates and
travelers. The project will help inform vaccine
recommendations in travelers, as well as public health efforts to
predict seasonal variations in disease severity.
Sawani is a medical student from the University of Central Florida in
Orlando, Florida. He is currently working in Thailand as Doris Duke
Clinical Research Fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Kathryn Anderson,
Department of Medicine, University of Minnesota. Currently, they are
working on a collaborative research project between the University of
Minnesota, Chiang Mai University, and Mahidol University.
